Description

The theme of gardening was used in the project to transfer knowledge into experiences and in turn created skills that can be used in future employment situations. Experiential education approaches were used in many of the pedagogical activties. This typeof teaching approach is an innovative way to encourage and teach about entrepreneurship and collabration in many differet ways. Students and the three campuses learned about planting seeds, gardening skills and how they related to mental and physical well-being and did so in collaboration with UQO and Cegep de l’Outaouais. The common interest of gardening was used to bridge language barriers and various social, educational and cultural differences. A deeper connection was made with students related to food security. Left over food from the harvest was distributed to students and donated to the Heritage community fridge.
