Description
As part of the work carried out for the broad TRAMPO project, we have identified the importance of having good collaboration with the parents, for our post-secondary transition actions to be effective. In addition, several studies that collected individual experiences reminded us that people having doubts about transitioning to post-secondary and to adulthood tend to talk to someone they trust: parents, family members and other people they are close to.
To strengthen the collaboration with parents, in the fall of 2023, we initiated a parent peers project. We began by holding two discussion groups of parents of young people and adults (16+) in the post-secondary transition, in a heterogeneous context. The first was held in Gatineau and the second in the Pontiac region. This initiative led to a project to produce podcasts presenting discussions between parents and young people on important issues that were raised in the discussion groups. One podcast also raises the issues faced by immigrant parents.
