Description
This project consists of extending the services of UQO’s writing support centre (Centre d’aide à la rédaction en ligne [CAREL]) to Cégep de l’Outaouais. CAREL aims to provide feedback, resources, and advice to students who wish to improve their written assignments. This is not a service for systematically correcting spelling or grammatical errors in assignments.
Instead, the feedback is in the form of working guidelines that will help students generate ideas, do their own revisions, and create their own toolboxes. A tutor will provide formative feedback that focuses on the student’s writing skills (opportunities for improvement, strengths) and not on the interpretation of content.
It will enable college students, and those who are headed for university, to acquire and perfect their writing skills with a view to producing written assignments that adhere to the teacher’s instructions as well as the various components of a text that meet the standards of excellence and quality.
This online service is confidential and available 24/7, two pluses for student retention and success.
